Welcome
to the Momentum Project website! Here you will find
information that will give you a glimpse of our organization
and the important work we carry out throughout New York City
to benefit persons with HIV/AIDS.
Twenty-one years ago, the Momentum Project
began as an all-volunteer organization dedicated to feeding
disenfranchised New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS. Today,
Momentum has grown into one of New York City’s largest
HIV/AIDS organizations providing food, nutrition and health
services at eight locations in four boroughs of the City.
What’s unique about the Momentum model is
that our congregate meal and pantry service attracts the
hardest-to-reach HIV populations, and that we provide all
our services in a communal setting in our clients’ own
neighborhoods. We provide them a non-judgmental and
trusting environment, building their confidence and
ultimately bringing them into vital HIV care and prevention
services. Annually, our comprehensive team of nurses,

chaplains and other specialists engage more
than 3,000 individuals from low-income, HIV/AIDS populations
during meals, and educate, counsel, and link them to primary
healthcare, mental health and substance abuse treatment,
housing and other crucial services. Momentum works because
of the pooling of public and private sector resources, our
qualified staff, dedicated board of directors, caring
volunteers and the trust of thousands of HIV/AIDS clients
and their families.
We are grateful to our supporters that have
come with us this far. We hope that you will stay with us
the distance as we continue to sustain health and foster
hope for New York City’s most vulnerable citizens – men and
women who are living with HIV/AIDS.
