Comden Kyle, Passes Away
(New York, NY –
November 29, 2006) -- The Board of Directors and staff of The Momentum Project
are saddened by the death of Betty Comden Kyle, retired Momentum volunteer and
supporter. Momentum is grateful for her volunteer service provided at our St.
Paul the Apostle Church site and the recent donation of her record collection of
more than 300 records. We extend our sincere condolences to the Comden and Kyle
families.
Ms. Comden
Kyle, along with her professional partner, Adolph Green (deceased in 2002),
wrote the lyrics for some of the most celebrated musicals, including “Singing in
the Rain,” “Bells are Ringing,” and “Wonderful Town.” She passed away on
Thanksgiving Day, November 23rd at the age of 89.
Ms. Betty
Comden Kyle’s music collection, including autographed copies of Leonard
Bernstein’s Beethoven, “The Nine Symphonies,” and “Bernstein Songfest,” St.
Louis Woman, and Oscar Levant’s Piano Concerto, “For the Record,” will be
auctioned on Ebay beginning World AIDS Day.
